1946 Great Britain Rugby League Team Inducted into Hall of Fame
The 1946 Great Britain rugby league team, recognized as the 'Indomitables', has been inducted into the Rugby League Hall of Fame. This team is notable for being the only Great Britain side to complete an away Test series against Australia without a loss.
During their tour, the 26-man squad played a total of 27 matches, achieving 21 wins, one draw, and five losses. They secured an unbeaten Ashes series against Australia, which included an 8-8 draw in Sydney, followed by a 14-5 victory in Brisbane and a 20-7 win back in Sydney.
This induction marks the second team to enter the Hall of Fame, following the 1996 Great Britain Lionesses. RFL chair Nigel Wood highlighted the significance of the 1946 team, noting their role in reviving international sporting events post-World War Two and their lasting impact on rugby league history.
