2026 FA Community Shield to be Held in Cardiff Instead of Wembley
Arsenal and Manchester City are scheduled to compete for the 2026 FA Community Shield, marking the beginning of the 2026-27 season. However, this year's match will not be held at Wembley Stadium, which is a departure from tradition.
Wembley, known as the home of English soccer and a venue for major domestic events, is unavailable due to a concert by The Weeknd on the same day. As a result, the match will be relocated to Principality Stadium in Cardiff, which can accommodate 74,500 fans.
This change marks only the third time since 2007 that the Community Shield has been held outside London and the first return to Wales since 2006. Historically, the fixture has been hosted at various venues before Wembley became its permanent home in 1974.
