2026 XTERRA World Championship Set for Ruidoso, New Mexico
The XTERRA World Championship is scheduled to take place in Ruidoso, New Mexico, from October 8 to 11, 2026, marking its return to the United States after being held in Italy for the past four years. This event celebrates 30 years of XTERRA racing, which began in Maui in 1996.
The championship will feature a course that incorporates elements from previous locations, including a 1.5K swim in Grindstone Lake, a 27K mountain bike segment, and a 10K trail run. The bike course will reach elevations of nearly 7,800 feet, presenting a variety of challenges for participants.
In addition to the main event, the week will include community activities such as guided hikes, yoga sessions, and a Family Zone for non-competitors. The local community has previously hosted events like the IRONMAN 70.3, showcasing its capability to support large-scale competitions.
