22 Players Eligible for Rookie Scale Extensions Ahead of 2026 Season

As of July 1, 22 players in the final year of their rookie scale contracts are eligible to sign extensions, with a deadline set for the day before the 2026/27 regular season begins.

These players, all first-round selections from the 2023 draft, can negotiate new deals lasting up to five years, which would commence in the 2027/28 season. If extensions are not signed during the 2026 offseason, they will qualify for restricted free agency in the summer of 2027.

So far, only one rookie scale extension has been finalized this offseason, with Victor Wembanyama of the Spurs signing a five-year maximum-salary deal. This contract is projected to be worth $252.3 million over five years, starting at 25% of the 2027/28 salary cap. Historically, at least nine players have signed extensions in each of the past seven offseasons, with a record 14 agreements made in 2023.
