26 Fighters, Including Anthony Hernandez and Gregory Rodrigues, Face Medical Suspensions After UFC Sacramento
The recent UFC event in Sacramento marked the organization's return after seven years, featuring a night of intense competition where ten out of 13 fights ended in stoppages. As a result, the California State Athletic Commission has issued medical suspensions for 26 fighters who participated at the Golden 1 Center.
Among those suspended, Anthony Hernandez and Gregory Rodrigues received the longest terms of 180 days each, pending clearance from medical specialists for potential fractures. Rodrigues suffered an injury to his right leg, while Hernandez's injury is related to his left knee. Both fighters also face additional suspensions of 45 days and 30 days without contact due to the severity of their five-round battle.
Despite the injuries, Rodrigues won the match by unanimous decision but required assistance to leave the arena, while Hernandez was seen limping after the fight. The event also resulted in several other fighters receiving varying lengths of suspensions, with five fighters facing six-month terms. The longer suspensions do not guarantee extended absences, as fighters may return sooner if cleared by medical professionals.
