49ers Acquire DeForest Buckner from Colts in Trade
The San Francisco 49ers have re-acquired defensive tackle DeForest Buckner from the Indianapolis Colts, trading a fourth-round draft pick in 2027. This transaction, reported on Tuesday, aims to bolster the 49ers' defense as they pursue a deep playoff run.
Currently leading the NFC West with a 6-1 record, the 49ers are looking to enhance their defensive lineup. Buckner, who previously played for San Francisco before being traded to Indianapolis in 2020, has been a key player for the Colts, recording 31 tackles, four sacks, and three pass breakups this season.
His return to the 49ers marks a significant reunion, as Buckner was originally drafted by the team in 2016. The Colts, on the other hand, are undergoing a roster overhaul, having also traded Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks, indicating a shift in their strategy as they reassess their future.
