49ers Activate Christian Kirk from Injured Reserve
The San Francisco 49ers announced the activation of wide receiver Christian Kirk from injured reserve on Saturday, following a procedural move on Friday that involved releasing defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo.
In addition to activating Kirk, the 49ers re-signed Okoronkwo to their practice squad. Okoronkwo, along with linebacker Jalen Graham, was elevated from the practice squad for the upcoming game against the Falcons. The team also cut defensive lineman Kevin Givens from the practice squad.
Kirk, who has been on injured reserve for the season, signed a one-year contract with the 49ers in March. His return comes as the team’s leading wide receiver, Mike Evans, has been ruled out due to Achilles soreness. Over his eight-season career, Kirk has recorded 432 receptions for 5,415 yards and 30 touchdowns.
