49ers and Saints Complete Trade for Depth Players Ahead of NFL Season

The San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints have executed a trade to address depth issues just before the NFL regular season begins. The 49ers are sending running back Zamir White to the Saints in exchange for linebacker Deion Jones.

This trade follows an injury to Saints running back Alvin Kamara, who is expected to be sidelined for a month due to an MCL sprain. Additionally, the Saints' running back depth was affected by Devin Neal's injury during a preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams. White, who previously competed for the backup position behind Christian McCaffrey, may now serve as the backup to Travis Etienne in New Orleans.

White joined the 49ers after a four-year stint with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he accumulated 736 rushing yards and two touchdowns over 45 games. On the other hand, Jones, who recorded 29 tackles with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season, will bolster the 49ers' linebacker corps, which has experienced some depth challenges despite having key players like Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw returning.
