49ers Conduct Tryouts for Three Linebackers

The San Francisco 49ers hosted linebacker Andre Carter, linebacker Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, and linebacker Xavier Thomas for tryouts on Sunday.

Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, who is 31 years old, was selected by the Rams in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He played the last year of a four-year contract worth $2.9 million and subsequently signed a one-year deal with the Texans for the 2022 season. After a stint with the Browns, where he was under a three-year contract potentially worth up to $22 million, he was released earlier this offseason.

In 2024, Okoronkwo played 16 games for the Browns, accumulating 23 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, and one pass defense. He later joined the Eagles but suffered a season-ending injury in Week 1 of the 2025 season.
