49ers Lead NFL Power Rankings After Victory Over Seahawks

The San Francisco 49ers have solidified their status as the top team in the NFL Power Rankings after a 5-0 start, highlighted by a victory over the Seattle Seahawks. This win, achieved on Sunday night, was marked by a dominant defensive performance rather than the usual offensive prowess under coach Kyle Shanahan.

The 49ers' defense excelled by limiting the Seahawks' running game, forcing four turnovers, and recording five sacks, the highest number since 2024. Notably, this was accomplished without star pass rusher Nick Bosa. First-year defensive coordinator Raheem Morris has implemented a more aggressive scheme, resulting in improved takeaways and tighter coverage.

Quarterback Brock Purdy has also made a strong impression, contributing to the team's success. While Shanahan's coaching accolades may hinge on winning a Super Bowl, the 49ers are currently positioned well, having already defeated division rivals like the Rams and Seahawks. At the other end of the rankings, the Miami Dolphins remain at the bottom, still seeking their first win of the season.
