49ers Make Roster Moves, Signing Eli Apple and Xavier Thomas
The San Francisco 49ers announced several roster changes on Wednesday, including the signing of cornerback Eli Apple and defensive lineman Xavier Thomas.
Apple previously participated in the offseason program and early training camp with the team before being released earlier this month. He was selected as the 10th overall pick in the 2016 draft and played in two games for the 49ers last season while on the practice squad. Thomas, a fifth-round pick in 2024, has played in 18 games over the past two seasons with the Cardinals, recording 2.5 career sacks.
As part of these roster adjustments, the 49ers waived receiver Junior Bergen, punter Jack Bouwmeester, and defensive lineman K.J. Henry, the latter of whom was waived with an injury designation.
