49ers' Mike Evans Injury Update After Win Against Commanders
The San Francisco 49ers secured a 23-17 victory against the Washington Commanders, improving their record to 6-0. However, the team faced a setback when wide receiver Mike Evans aggravated a pre-existing Achilles injury late in the second quarter.
Following the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan indicated that the injury might not be serious. He noted that Evans has dealt with Achilles tendonitis, which flared up during the match. Shanahan expressed hope for Evans' recovery throughout the week, suggesting that it is not expected to be a long-term issue. The 49ers are scheduled to play the Atlanta Falcons on October 25, and there is a possibility that Evans could be rested to ensure his health for the following game against the Las Vegas Raiders on November 8.
During the game, Evans recorded three receptions for 94 yards before being ruled out. Quarterback Brock Purdy acknowledged Evans' importance to the team but expressed confidence in his teammates to step up in his absence. Evans currently leads the 49ers with 39 targets and 420 receiving yards this season.
