49ers Part Ways with Defensive Lineman Naquan Jones
The San Francisco 49ers announced the release of defensive lineman Naquan Jones on Tuesday.
This decision may be aimed at clearing a roster spot for wide receiver Christian Kirk, whose 21-day return-to-practice window opened last week after being on injured reserve due to a calf injury.
During his time with the 49ers this season, Jones played in three games, recording two tackles. His release follows the return of James Thompson, who was previously sidelined with a high ankle sprain, making Jones's position on the team less secure.
At 28 years old, Jones has participated in 63 games over six seasons, achieving a total of 104 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and five passes defensed.
