49ers Place Defensive End Sam Okuayinonu on Injured Reserve
The San Francisco 49ers have placed defensive end Sam Okuayinonu on injured reserve, ruling him out for the upcoming game against the Rams and at least three additional matches.
Okuayinonu is sidelined due to a foot injury. Over the past two seasons, he recorded 74 tackles, six sacks, and two forced fumbles in 31 games, including six tackles during two playoff games last year.
In response to Okuayinonu's injury, the 49ers signed defensive end Khalid Kareem from the Falcons' practice squad. Kareem will join teammates Nick Bosa, Keion White, and Romello Height on the defensive line, although Bosa's status for the season opener remains uncertain as he recovers from a torn ACL.
