49ers Release Adrian Martinez, Kurtis Rourke Secures No. 3 QB Spot

The San Francisco 49ers have decided to release Adrian Martinez, confirming Kurtis Rourke as their third quarterback behind Brock Purdy and Mac Jones.

Rourke, who started in the team's first preseason game, completed 12 of 14 passes for 101 yards and rushed for 14 yards on three carries before suffering three broken ribs that required hospitalization. Although he missed the final two preseason games, he is expected to return to practice this week.

In contrast, Martinez participated in all three preseason games, completing 36 of 68 passes for 346 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions, in addition to rushing for 35 yards and one score.
