49ers Release Defensive Linemen Kevin Givens and Cameron Sample
The San Francisco 49ers have officially announced the release of defensive linemen Kevin Givens and Cameron Sample as part of roster adjustments following two new signings.
The team confirmed the addition of receiver KhaDarel Hodge and defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo on one-year contracts. Givens, who has been with the 49ers since 2019 as an undrafted free agent, played 70 games for the team, recording 8.0 sacks and 18 tackles for loss. Last season, he participated in five games, making two tackles.
Sample, who joined the 49ers in April after five seasons with the Bengals, contributed 17 tackles, 2.0 sacks, and six quarterback hits in 14 games last year. The 49ers are set to play their first preseason game against Tennessee next Thursday in Santa Clara.
