49ers' Sam Okuayinonu Out for Season Opener Against Rams

The San Francisco 49ers have confirmed that defensive end Sam Okuayinonu will miss their season opener against the Los Angeles Rams in Australia.

Okuayinonu did not join the team on their flight to Melbourne, and although there was a possibility he could travel later if his recovery from a foot injury progressed, the team has now ruled him out for the game.

Last season, Okuayinonu played a significant role in the 49ers' defense, starting 12 regular-season games and both playoff matches. This season, he is anticipated to serve as a backup and contribute to the defensive line rotation once he recovers.
