49ers vs. Rams Game from Australia Draws 21.7 Million Viewers
The NFL matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams, held in Australia, garnered a total of 21.7 million viewers globally. This game was streamed on Netflix after the traditional Thursday night opener was moved to Wednesday.
Of the total viewership, 18.5 million were domestic viewers in the U.S., while 3.2 million were from international audiences. The U.S. viewership matched the previous year's Chiefs-Chargers game streamed on YouTube, although the international audience this year was larger.
Despite the solid numbers, the game itself was not particularly thrilling, with the 49ers defeating the Rams 27-7. Netflix is set to stream four more NFL games this season, including two on Christmas and another on the night before Thanksgiving.
