Aakash Chopra Questions India's Decision to Bench Nitish Reddy
Aakash Chopra, a former Indian opener, has voiced his concerns regarding the decision to bench Nitish Kumar Reddy in the first T20I against the West Indies held in Lucknow. He believes that the team's selection strategy does not align with his views, particularly after India secured an eight-wicket victory in the match.
In the match, India bowled out the West Indies for 171 runs and chased down the target with 32 balls remaining. Chopra suggested that Reddy should have been included in the lineup, while also acknowledging Naman Dhir's impressive performance, who took three wickets for 31 runs in his four overs.
Chopra criticized the West Indies batting performance, stating they failed to capitalize on favorable conditions, and highlighted the contributions of Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel in restricting the West Indies' score. He noted that only a few West Indies players managed to score significantly, with Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford being the exceptions.
