Aaron Boone to Remain Yankees Manager for 2027 Season
Aaron Boone will stay on as the manager of the New York Yankees for the 2027 season, according to a report from the Bergen Record. This upcoming season will be Boone's final year under his current contract, making it his tenth year in the role.
Under Boone's leadership, the Yankees have achieved a record of 790 wins and 565 losses, reaching the playoffs eight times in nine seasons. However, the team has not secured a World Series title since 2009. Following the Yankees' recent exit from the ALDS after being swept by the Tampa Bay Rays, Boone expressed a desire to reflect on the season and connect with his players.
Since Boone took over in 2018, only the Los Angeles Dodgers have recorded more wins than the Yankees. Despite this success, the franchise is primarily evaluated based on championships, and the Yankees have not won a pennant since 2024. Boone's future remains uncertain unless an extension is offered, as he heads into the next season without a contract guarantee. The Yankees finished the 2026 season with a record of 93-68, marking their 34th consecutive winning season.
