Aaron Donald Misses Practice, Status for Week 1 in Australia Uncertain

Aaron Donald, the Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle, has missed practice just two days after announcing his return to the team. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year participated in practice on Sunday but sat out on Monday, leading to uncertainty about his participation in the upcoming season opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia.

Rams coach Sean McVay explained that the decision for Donald to miss practice was part of a planned approach to gradually reintegrate him into the team. Donald has been working out independently for the past two months and is still in the process of getting back into football shape.

McVay acknowledged that it is possible Donald may not play in Week 1, emphasizing the importance of making a decision about his status before the team travels to Australia. Donald's contract includes performance bonuses tied to his active roster status, which could allow him to still earn bonuses even if he misses games. The Rams will have a few more days to assess Donald's readiness before their departure.
