Donald retired in March 2024 after a decade in the NFL but has signed a one-year contract worth $20 million, with potential playoff incentives raising the total to $30 million. His comeback comes just weeks before the Rams' season opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia.

McVay mentioned that the team will evaluate Donald's readiness day by day, considering how to integrate him back into team activities. Donald noted that his decision to return was a lengthy process, influenced by the team's recent acquisitions, including Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett. He emphasized the importance of being fully committed to his return, stating that he had been contemplating this decision for several weeks.
