Aaron Glenn Reflects on Timeout Decisions After Jets' Loss
Following the Jets' 28-25 defeat to the Dolphins, head coach Aaron Glenn expressed regret over not using timeouts at the end of the first half. This decision allowed the Dolphins to score a touchdown just before halftime, extending their lead to 14 points.
The Dolphins advanced to the Jets' 25-yard-line after a first down and gained additional yards on subsequent plays. They utilized a timeout with 20 seconds remaining, drew a pass interference penalty, and scored on a run by Malik Willis after another timeout was called due to a loss of yards.
Despite admitting he should have stopped the clock, Glenn defended his strategy, arguing that using timeouts could have allowed the Dolphins to secure more first downs. The Jets have struggled in late-game situations, being outscored 107-6 in the last two minutes of first halves since Glenn's appointment, and he stated that the team is working to improve in these critical moments.
