Aaron Rodgers Raises Concerns Over Buccaneers' Playing Surface
Aaron Rodgers expressed concerns regarding the playing surface at Raymond James Stadium following the Steelers' victory over the Buccaneers. During a postgame press conference, he described the field as potentially one of the worst in the NFL, emphasizing that player safety is a significant issue.
Rodgers recalled suffering two injuries on the same field, including a shoulder injury in 2008 and a calf injury in 2014, both of which he believes were influenced by the turf conditions. He stated that he was fortunate not to have been injured in the recent game but insisted that the field needs to be evaluated for safety.
The stadium, which features natural grass and is shared with a local college team, has faced scrutiny over its playing surface. NFLPA president JC Tretter has been advocating for safer playing surfaces since 2020, highlighting the need for improvements in stadium conditions. Rodgers, currently in his final NFL season, is preparing for an upcoming international game in Paris against the Saints.
