ABC Affiliates Express Discontent Over Disney's Super Bowl Viewing Plans
Disney has announced numerous ways to watch Super Bowl LXI, which has led to dissatisfaction among ABC affiliates responsible for broadcasting the event.
The affiliates are concerned that the availability of the game on various platforms, including ESPN, NFL Network, and Disney+, could reduce advertising revenue by as much as 35% compared to the previous year. This fragmentation of viewership may result in a loss of audience for the affiliates.
The ABC Television Affiliates Association Board of Governors is currently discussing the issue, although its chairman has not provided comments. Disney acknowledged the importance of its ABC affiliates and stated that it has previously managed similar situations effectively.
