Woods, who had previously won both of his matches alongside Justin Thomas, faced Ancer in the singles after sitting out Saturday's matches. Ancer, a rookie at the time, had expressed a desire to compete against Woods, which was perceived as a challenge. Woods won the match 3&2, and Ancer later reflected that the experience was marred by how his words were taken out of context.

Despite the disappointment, Ancer was one of the top scorers of the tournament, earning 3.5 points. He noted that he had not spoken to Woods since their match, although they had seen each other at events. Ancer later joined LIV Golf, and his future on the PGA Tour remains uncertain.
