Adam Ramsay-Peaty Finishes Fifth in 100m Breaststroke at European Championships
Adam Ramsay-Peaty finished fifth in the 100m breaststroke final at the European Aquatics Championships held in Paris, marking his first defeat at this event.
The 31-year-old, who has previously secured 16 gold medals at the European Championships, completed the race in 59.10 seconds. Olympic champion Nicolo Martinenghi won the event with a time of 58.58 seconds, followed by Ivan Kozhakin in second and Simone Cerasuolo in third.
Ramsay-Peaty's performance was an improvement over his recent showing at the Commonwealth Games, where he won two bronze medals. He finished just 0.01 seconds ahead of his teammate Filip Nowacki, who had previously made headlines by winning gold in the 200m breaststroke.
In other events, Katie Shanahan of Great Britain won gold in the 200m backstroke, finishing 1.49 seconds ahead of her competitors, while Angharad Evans set a new championship record in the women's 100m breaststroke semi-final.
