Aditya Singh Aims for LA Olympics After World Under-19 Boxing Title
Seventeen-year-old Aditya Singh, a boxer from Bharan village in Haryana, has won the 55kg title at the World Boxing under-19 championships held in Montenegro. His victory is attributed to rigorous training and a strategic switch from orthodox to southpaw stance.
Aditya, who began training six years ago under coach Vinod Kumar, initially aimed to join the Army Boys Sports Company. His coach recognized his potential and decided to experiment with his boxing style, which ultimately led to success. Aditya secured the title after defeating several international opponents, including USA’s Christian Paez and Russia’s Islam Magomedov.
Coach Ramanand commended Aditya's adaptability and dedication throughout the tournament. Looking ahead, both Aditya and his coach Vinod Kumar have set their sights on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, believing that his commitment and discipline will pave the way for future success.
