Rutschman launched solo home runs in the first and sixth innings, which were crucial for the Red Sox as they continue their playoff push. His performance marked a significant achievement, as he became only the second player since 1900 to hit multiple home runs in his first game against a former team after switching teams mid-season.

Before Rutschman, the only player to achieve this feat was Willis Otanez, who also homered against the Orioles while playing for the Toronto Blue Jays. Despite his recent struggles with a .197 batting average since being traded on August 3, Rutschman now has three home runs with the Red Sox and a total of 11 for the season.
