The Red Sox obtained Rutschman during the trade deadline on August 3, and he has been recovering from left wrist inflammation since July 20. Prior to his injury, he had a batting average of .251, with eight home runs and 47 RBIs while playing for the Baltimore Orioles.

Rutschman's father has purchased a plane ticket to Toronto, suggesting that his debut is imminent. He recently completed a successful minor league rehab assignment, where he recorded a two-run double and threw out a baserunner. His performance is expected to bolster the Red Sox's offense, which has struggled at the catching position this season.
