AEW Redemption Main Event Change Explained
The AEW Redemption 2026 main event underwent a significant change, surprising fans as Kenny Omega, who had recently won the AEW World Championship from MJF, faced Kevin Knight instead of MJF.
This alteration was primarily due to MJF suffering a knee injury during a title defense against Rush on a June episode of Dynamite. Although he attempted to recover, the decision was made to change the title ahead of Redemption to allow him time to heal before the All In event.
Additionally, the title change allowed AEW to promote Omega's upcoming match against Will Ospreay at Wembley Stadium. Following Omega's victory at Beach Break, ticket sales for All In surged, with over 1,000 tickets sold shortly thereafter.
