AFCA Supports Protect College Sports Act Ahead of Congressional Return

The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), under the leadership of Craig Bohl, has expressed its support for the Protect College Sports Act, urging Congress to pass the legislation upon its return this month.

Bohl highlighted four key priorities that the AFCA membership has advocated for since the introduction of the NIL era: accountability for agents, a standardized eligibility model, transfer rules to prevent tampering, and a national calendar focused on player health and academics. The Senate had previously adjourned without voting on the bill, which had cleared the Commerce Committee with a 19-9 vote in June.

The proposed legislation includes provisions for agent registration, limits on agent fees, and a framework for eligibility and transfers. Bohl emphasized the importance of clarity and accountability in protecting student-athletes and maintaining the integrity of the game.
