AFL Stars Kysaiah Pickett and Liam Ryan Compete in Indigenous Football Tournament
In a recent Indigenous football tournament, AFL players Kysaiah Pickett and Liam Ryan joined forces to represent Leonora during the Goldfields Aboriginal Football Carnival.
The match took place on Friday as part of the tournament, which ran from October 9 to 10. Despite their efforts, Leonora lost to Boulder in the round-robin stage.
The tournament featured twelve teams and is an annual event aimed at fostering community engagement among Indigenous families across Western Australia. Both players have strong ties to the region, with Ryan hailing from Geraldton and Pickett having family connections there. Ryan previously played for West Coast, winning a premiership in 2018, while Pickett recently earned his second All-Australian award after a standout season with Melbourne.
