Agostino Abbatiello Granted Bail in Drug Trafficking Case

Agostino Abbatiello was granted $250,000 in secured bail during his preliminary hearing on Tuesday, following an emergency motion from his attorney to overturn a previous bail denial.

The bail conditions include surrendering his passport, abstaining from alcohol and controlled substances, living with his parents in Long Island, New York, and avoiding contact with witnesses. Prosecutors had requested a bail amount of $5 million, while the judge settled on a figure closer to Abbatiello's suggested $200,000 unsecured bail.

Abbatiello, a former Penn State student and member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, is accused of leading a cocaine trafficking ring that reportedly generated over $123,500 in drug payments. He faces 11 felony charges, including serious drug-related offenses, and was previously denied bail due to concerns about flight risk and public safety.
