AITA Sets Age Limit for Executive Committee Members at 70

The All India Tennis Association (AITA) has established a maximum age limit of 70 years for its Executive Committee members. This decision was made during an Extraordinary General Meeting held on July 26, 2026, where the association debated whether to maintain the limit at 70, as required by the National Sports Governance Act, or to increase it to 75 based on the International Tennis Federation's guidelines.

The vote resulted in a narrow margin, with 25 members supporting the 70-year limit and 22 in favor of raising it to 75. Under the new rule, candidates must be under 70 at the time of nomination but can serve a full four-year term even if they turn 70 during that period. This change prevents veteran administrator Anil Khanna, who is 73, from returning to the committee.

Interim president Chintan Parikh, who is approaching 70, announced the results via internal communication. The AITA is required to submit its finalized constitution to the Delhi High Court before the next hearing scheduled for August 14.
