A.J. Brown of the Patriots Placed on Injured Reserve
The New England Patriots have placed wide receiver A.J. Brown on injured reserve following a high-ankle sprain he suffered during the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks.
Brown sustained the injury during the second half of the game, specifically on the Patriots' opening possession. An MRI confirmed the severity of the sprain, which will require him to miss a minimum of four games before he can be activated. The earliest he could return is in Week 6.
The injury occurred when Brown was targeted for a pass that was deflected by Seahawks cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett, causing Brown's ankle to twist as he fell. Prior to the injury, Brown had recorded three receptions for a team-leading 26 yards. He joined the Patriots in June after being traded from the Philadelphia Eagles and has previously been recognized as a second-team All-Pro.
