AJ Dybantsa Set for NBA Debut with Wizards
AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft, is set to make his debut for the Washington Wizards on Wednesday in Cleveland after recovering from a left ankle sprain that sidelined him for the first four games of the season.
Initially listed as questionable for the game, Dybantsa has been upgraded to available. The 19-year-old forward had an impressive college season at BYU, averaging 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game, and showcased his scoring ability during the Las Vegas Summer League and preseason.
His return comes as the Wizards look to improve their offense, which currently ranks 16th in the NBA. Dybantsa is expected to compete for a starting position, potentially replacing Bilal Coulibaly, although he may face a minutes restriction in his first game. The team is also dealing with the absence of Justin Champagnie due to a foot injury.
