AJ Dybantsa Sustains Ankle Injury in Preseason Finale
AJ Dybantsa, the first overall pick in the recent draft, experienced an ankle sprain during the second quarter of the Washington Wizards' preseason finale against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday.
Dybantsa exited the game after rolling his left ankle while landing awkwardly following a jump shot. He managed to score 12 points in 15 minutes before limping to the locker room. Although Wizards coach Brian Keefe referred to the injury as a minor sprain, further evaluation is planned.
The former BYU standout has consistently scored in double digits throughout the preseason and is expected to start at small forward, competing with fellow former lottery pick Bilal Coulibaly for the position.
