Ajinkya Rahane Discusses Transformation with CSK in IPL

Ajinkya Rahane has shared insights on how his career in the Indian Premier League (IPL) was transformed after joining the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2023. Throughout his 19-season IPL journey, Rahane played for six franchises and participated in 212 matches, accumulating 5,367 runs with an average of 30.15 and a strike rate of 125.60.

The pivotal moment for Rahane came when CSK acquired him for Rs 50 lakh. At the age of 35, he reinvented his batting approach, achieving a remarkable strike rate of 172.48 during the season, a significant increase from his previous year's rate of 103.90. His preparation leading up to the season included developing a more aggressive range of shots, which he felt was essential for his reinvention.

Rahane's breakthrough performance occurred unexpectedly on April 8, 2023, when he stepped in for an unwell teammate and scored 61 runs off 27 balls. This match marked the beginning of what he refers to as Rahane 2.0, showcasing his newfound freedom and confidence in his batting style, supported by the CSK management's encouragement to play without fear of failure.
