Akron Zips Launch Unique Fan Contest for 2026 Season Opener

The Akron Zips football program has introduced an innovative contest for its fans, allowing one season ticket holder to design the offensive plays for the opening drive of the 2026 season's first home game.

This unique opportunity involves the winner working directly with head coach Joe Moorhead to script the initial plays, marking a first for the Akron program. The initiative aims to deepen fan engagement, as stated by Akron's Director of Athletics, Dr. Andrew T. Gooddrich.

To participate, current season ticket holders are automatically entered into a random drawing, with each ticket counting as an entry. Additional entries can be earned by referring new season ticket holders. The winner will be announced on August 19, ahead of the home opener against Robert Morris.
