Alabama and Tennessee to Revive Home Jersey Tradition for Rivalry Games
Alabama and Tennessee have announced the return of their home jersey tradition for the upcoming rivalry games in 2026 and 2027. This tradition, which began in 1928, was interrupted in 1971 when the SEC mandated that visiting teams wear white uniforms.
The rivalry, known as the third Saturday in October, is entering its 109th year, with Alabama leading the series 61-40-7. The last matchup saw Alabama secure a 37-20 victory at home.
As both teams prepare for the next season, Alabama is looking to fill the quarterback position after Ty Simpson's departure, likely turning to sophomore Keelon Russell. Tennessee is also in the midst of a quarterback competition, with head coach Josh Heupel evaluating options between freshman Faizon Brandon and redshirt freshman George MacIntyre. The games will take place at Neyland Stadium on October 17.
