Alan Pichot and Marta García Win Spanish Chess Championships
GM Alan Pichot and IM Marta García Martín were crowned champions of the 2026 Spanish Absolute and Women's Chess Championships in Linares, which took place from August 17 to 25. Pichot, originally from Argentina, secured his first Spanish title, while García successfully defended her championship, marking her third overall victory.

Pichot achieved a pivotal win against Villa, finishing the tournament with a score of 7½ out of 9. In the women's category, García led with a score of 6 out of 9, while IM Sabrina Vega and WFM Adhara Rodríguez Redondo secured the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
