Aldrich Potgieter Leads PGA Tour in Driving Distance for 2026 Season
The 2026 PGA Tour season wrapped up last weekend at the Tour Championship, where Scottie Scheffler secured victory by three strokes.
Aldrich Potgieter, a 21-year-old golfer from South Africa, was recognized as the longest driver on the tour, averaging 331.1 yards, just ahead of Rory McIlroy's 330.3 yards. Despite his impressive distance, Potgieter struggled with accuracy, ranking 147th in driving accuracy by hitting only 51.83% of fairways.
In contrast, Russell Henley led in driving accuracy with 72.59%. Potgieter's challenges off the tee resulted in a 16th place ranking in strokes gained off the tee, while McIlroy maintained a position in the top 10. Potgieter is expected to focus on improving his iron play during the offseason.
