Alec Burleson Hits Three Homers in Cardinals' Victory Over Yankees

Alec Burleson ended his home run drought by hitting three two-run homers, leading the St. Louis Cardinals to a 13-7 victory over the New York Yankees on Monday night. The Cardinals overcame a six-run lead loss to secure the win.

Burleson hit his first homer off Yankees starter Cam Schlittler in the first inning, followed by another in the fourth against reliever Tim Hill. He capped a seven-run eighth inning with a 418-foot drive off Angel Chivilli. This performance made Burleson the first Cardinal to hit three homers in a game since Ivan Herrera in April 2025.

In addition to Burleson, rookies Nathan Church and Jimmie Crooks also contributed with homers in the eighth inning. The Cardinals' offensive surge included six home runs overall, their highest total since May 2023. The Yankees had briefly taken the lead in the seventh inning with a two-run homer from Luis Garcia Jr., but the Cardinals' late-game power display secured their second consecutive win.
