
Alessia Russo Named England Women's Player of the Year
Alessia Russo, a forward for Arsenal, has been recognized as England women's player of the year following her performance in the 2025-26 season.
The 27-year-old has played in all ten matches this season, netting five goals. Recently, she contributed to England's victory over Greece, scoring the third goal in a 3-1 win during the first leg of the 2027 World Cup play-off semi-final.
Russo, who previously won the award two seasons ago, surpassed Chelsea players Lucy Bronze and Hannah Hampton in the fan voting. She expressed gratitude for the support from fans and her teammates. England will face Greece again in the second leg at King Power Stadium in Leicester on Tuesday.
