Alex Albon Doubts Baku Upgrades Will Resolve Williams' F1 Issues

Alex Albon has indicated that Williams will likely face challenges as the 2026 Formula 1 season progresses, with the team now prioritizing the development of a competitive car for 2027. Currently, Williams sits ninth in the championship standings, having scored only 11 points this season, with their last points earned in Monaco in June.

The team's performance deteriorated further during the recent Hungarian Grand Prix, where both Albon and Carlos Sainz finished in 17th and 18th place, struggling against competitors like Audi and Aston Martin who have recently introduced upgrades. Although there are plans for significant upgrades at the Baku race in September, Albon remains doubtful about their immediate impact, suggesting that the issues are more deeply rooted and will require time to address.

Albon noted that the team's difficulties stem from a slow adaptation to the 2026 regulations, compounded by production delays that prevented them from participating in the Barcelona shakedown. He expressed frustration over his inability to perform at his best due to the car's limitations, which have hindered his driving confidence and consistency during races.
