During the Enjoy Illinois 300 in Illinois, Alex Bowman achieved his best race of the 2026 season, finishing second behind teammate Kyle Larson. This accomplishment came amid a challenging weekend for Bowman, who had recently lost his pet dog Finn.

Bowman shared the news of Finn's passing on social media just a day before the race, expressing the deep bond they shared over the past 10 and a half years. Despite the emotional weight, he focused on the race, starting from 11th position and moving steadily forward as others faced difficulties on the track.
