Cubs pitcher David Peterson allowed four runs over five innings, striking out six batters, and Javier Assad earned his second save by pitching four innings with two runs allowed.

For the Nationals, Abimelec Ortiz and Jose Tena also homered, and Daylen Lile drove in three runs. Jackson Kent made his major league debut, pitching four-plus innings and giving up three runs.
