Alex Bregman's Second Half Surge Revives Cubs Season

Chicago Cubs' Alex Bregman has turned his season around with a remarkable performance in the second half, overcoming a slow start to his first year with the team.

After signing a five-year, $175 million contract, Bregman struggled initially, batting just .235 with seven home runs by July 10. However, he began to excel starting July 11, hitting back-to-back home runs against the Cincinnati Reds and subsequently raising his batting average to over .310 with 18 home runs.

In a recent game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Bregman contributed significantly to a 12-2 victory, achieving three hits, two runs, two RBIs, and his 25th home run of the season. His resurgence is attributed to a swing adjustment made in late July, and he currently ranks second among MLB third basemen with 84 RBIs. Bregman has also excelled defensively, leading all third basemen with 14 Defensive Runs Saved this season.
