Alex Dunne Completes IndyCar Test Amid Formula 2 Title Chase
Alex Dunne, an Alpine junior driver from Ireland, has recently completed an IndyCar test at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama. This comes as he is engaged in a competitive race for the Formula 2 title, where he currently stands 18 points behind leader Rafael Camara.
The 20-year-old has achieved one victory and nine podium finishes in his second season of Formula 2, with two rounds remaining in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Given the limited opportunities in Formula 1 for 2027, Dunne tested for Dale Coyne Racing, where he recorded the fastest time during a morning session that included fellow driver Conor Daly.
Dunne expressed enthusiasm for the IndyCar experience, noting the car's power and downforce compared to what he is accustomed to. Although he is considering a third season in Formula 2, winning the championship would prevent him from returning next year. The IndyCar series, which features prominent races like the Indianapolis 500, has always intrigued him as a potential next step in his racing career.
